The Patrol Division of the River Edge Police Department consists of one Lieutenant, four Sergeants, and twelve Patrol Officers. Patrol is the largest Division of the Police Department with its primary responsibility of responding to calls for service from the community. These can range from neighborhood disputes, alarms, medical calls, domestic violence incidents, thefts, traffic accidents, burglaries in progress, and death investigations.
Officers of the Patrol Division are also expected to provide proactive services such as traffic enforcement, crime detection and suppression, business, school, park, and property checks, and initiating contacts with community members to further the department’s commitment community policing. Many members of the Patrol Division are involved in the Community Policing Division.
